Dr. Brewer Joins The Eye Center

Dr. Scott Petermann and the staff at The Eye Center at Affinity welcome Dr. Henry H. Brewer, III, board-certified optometrist, to the practice. Brewer, a graduate of The University of Alabama School of Optometry, is certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease as well as in pre- and post-operative care of refractive surgery patients. His special interests are in the areas of pediatric eye care and contact lenses. In addition to working in The Eye Center’s Valdosta and Tifton offices, Brewer will continue to see patients at the Wal-Mart on Norman Drive in Valdosta.

“I just really have a passion for the medical field and the eye in particular,” said Brewer. “I am happy to be working with such wonderful individuals at The Eye Center, including Dr. Petermann, who is a great surgeon.”

Prior to joining the Optometry field, Brewer was a registered respiratory therapist for eight years. It was when he interviewed for medical school that he decided to pursue a career in Optometry. He has practiced eye care in Valdosta for over five years.

Not only is Brewer known as “doctor,” but he can also be called “coach.” During football and baseball seasons, you can find him on the field coaching teams with the Valdosta Boys and Girls Club. Previous to being in Valdosta, he coached for the Parks and Recreation Departments in Birmingham and Brunswick. He is also involved in the community as a member of the Boys and Girls Club and the First Baptist Church worship band.

Other hobbies include carpentry, percussion, biking, hunting and fishing. He is a Tallahassee native, but enjoys residing in Valdosta with his wife and three children. “I love the Valdosta area - it has always been a good fit for me,” he states.

The Eye Center at Affinity specializes in LASIK, cataract surgery and comprehensive eye care for the entire family. All physicians are board-certified, and The Eye Center has offices located in Valdosta, Tifton and Douglas.
